Database Report Launch

The launching of NGO Joint Statistics on Rape and Trafficking 2009 was held on 21st July 2010 at NAGA World Hotel. Mr. Chin Chanveasna presented the important findings of the report to an audience consisting of representatives from the government, national and international NGOs, foreign embassies, and the 32 participating NGOs, the majority of whom contributed to this year's data. Coffee and lunch were provided as an opportunity for networking and discussion on the findings of the Report. Also taking part were representatives from the two NGO networks partners, Mr. Meas Samnang, Secretary General of NGOCRC and Mr. Keo Sam Oeurn, Programme Officer of COSECAM. ECPAT wish to thank all who participated both in the event itself, and in the formulation of database and subsequent report.
 

YPP Peer Support Training

A two-day peer support training was conducted in Tonle Bassac Restaurant, Phnom Penh on 29th and 30th of June 2010 . The training session is designed to equip the young people with the necessary knowledge and skills which enable them to raise awareness among their peers on issues surrounding commercial sexual exploitation (CSE) and also the necessary communication and counseling skills which they can use to support survivors of CSE and sexual abuse in the shelters where they reside. All 20 peer supporters were really enthusiastic and active in their participation, and made valuable contributions which help us to adjust the programme according to their needs and expectations. They demonstrated the ability to really engage with the problem and showed good communication skills and teamwork in discussing various solutions. Child Protection TukTuk in Sihanouk Province

With effective and successful campaign against child sex tourism in Phnom Penh, and with support from Child Wise Australia, ECPAT Cambodia is now expanding its campaign to Preah Sihanouk province. It starts with 20 tuk-tuk drivers. All the Tuk Tuk drivers were equipped with signboard, helmet, shirts and training on how to prevent child sexual abuse in tourism destination.

Annual Conference 2009

On 17th - 18th December 2009, ECPAT-Cambodia organized its annual conference at the Star Inn Hotel, Kep province. The Annual Conference was honorary presided over by Ms. Buth Saman, Chairperson of the Board of Directors and was attended by 20 member organizations.

The member organizations were actively discussed the strategic directions for 2010-2014 which is the way forward for ECPAT to combat Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children. More information about Strategic Directions please contact: director@ecpatcambodia.org.
